Villa Nova Citizens On Patrol

COP MISSION STATEMENT

To organize the citizens of Villa Nova to aid the Police Department in crime prevention by disseminating information to help the residents deter crime; issuing, in cooperation with the VNCA, newsletters promoting activities; acting as lesion to the Police Department on communal concerns; and by patrolling the community so as to alert the police of suspicious activities.

The Villa Nova Citizens on Patrol (COP) was organized in 1994 at the request and with the support of the Baltimore County Police Department and the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention. Research has shown that communities with active Citizens on Patrol are safer.  The COP is a separate and different organization than the Villa Nova Community Association. COP is focused on crime and works closely with the county police department. COP is a citizens watch function, not policing or enforcement function. Training is provided for all participants.
